What is the Clean Truck Check?
California's Heavy-Duty Inspection and Maintenance (HD I/M) program — better known as the Clean Truck Check — has been mandatory since 2023. It covers every diesel-powered vehicle over 14,000 lbs operating in California, including out-of-state trucks entering for business.
Each truck must submit a compliance test 2 times per year (4 for some categories). Missing a test, or failing without remediation, blocks DMV registration and racks up CARB fines.
We use CARB-certified OBD test equipment to read emissions data, NOx sensors, DPF status, and MIL fault codes, then upload results directly to the CARB Clean Truck Check database on the spot.
Tested. Uploaded. Receipted — before we drive away.
Our gear talks directly to the CARB Clean Truck Check database. That means we test, the data uploads, you and we watch the result come back on screen — and you walk away with a CARB-recognised receipt the same visit.
CARB-certified gear, direct upload
We use CARB-certified OBD test equipment that submits straight to the Clean Truck Check system over an encrypted link. None of the "we'll file it for you next week" routine.
Watch the test happen
You can stand right next to us while we read NOx sensors, DPF status, and MIL fault codes. Every reading appears on screen in real time — total transparency.
PASS / FAIL within minutes
After upload, the CARB system returns compliance status within minutes. We tell you the result on the spot and explain every line item so there's no mystery.
Receipt + PDF the same visit
Paper compliance receipt printed on-site; same PDF emailed to whatever address you give us. DOT auditors and insurers accept this as proof of compliance — no follow-up needed.

Frequently asked
Which trucks need a Clean Truck Check?
All diesel-powered vehicles over 14,001 lbs operating in California, including out-of-state trucks that come in for business. Covers tractors, dump trucks, refuse trucks, mixers, line-haul, and more.
How often do I need one?
California-registered vehicles need 2 compliance tests per year (~every 6 months). Some categories like school buses or emergency vehicles need 4. Depends on vehicle class and mileage.
What if it fails?
We tell you exactly which codes and likely causes — DPF, NOx sensor, OBD readiness, etc. Fix the truck and we'll come back to retest it — the second test is free and already included in your $85.
Can I bundle this with a DOT annual or 90-day BIT?
Yes — and we strongly recommend it. $99 covers Clean Truck Check + DOT Annual OR 90-day BIT (your pick). $129 covers all three. One visit, three DOT-recognised compliance reports, much cheaper than booking them separately.
How should I prep the truck?
Make sure the truck can idle, the battery is good, and the OBD port is accessible. Don't clear codes or disconnect the battery right before the test — the OBD readiness monitor will show "Not Ready" and we'll have to come back.
What does the $85 include?
OBD scan, NOx + DPF status read, MIL check, CARB upload, and your compliance receipt. The separate $30 CARB compliance fee is paid by the truck owner directly to CARB.
Payment methods?
Cash, Zelle, or Venmo. Fleets of 5+ trucks can set up monthly invoicing.
